Seder leader for remote first night seder
Location: Berkeley, CA 94709
A family who cannot have seders in person for health reasons seeks leader for Zoom seder for first night Pesach, Sat night 4/12/25, starting about 6pm Pacific. We are an interfaith family who belong to a Conservative synagogue. We will discuss the haggadah with you ahead of time and agree on certain sections we prefer to lead ourselves, but on the night, our health considerations might mean we need you to take over those sections as well
We will provide a haggadah in PDF form which is:
Pro-Israel (we will sing Hatikvah)
Somewhat traditional in orientation, though we prefer to skip certain sections
Participatory
Desired characteristics of leader:
Pleasant singing voice, since we will all mute and listen to you sing
Familiar with seder tunes and willing to sing melodies we request
Able to keep the haggadah moving in a friendly way, we will want to encourage participants to read sections
Pro-Israel
Fluent in English
Feminist
Hebrew literate
Prepared to have on hand and demonstrate ritual foods for the Seder
Need to have strong Internet connection, good lighting and a good microphone
We will handle the Zoom logistics and will invite participants, probably not more than about 25 people total and most likely fewer. Some children may join but mostly we will be adults.
To apply please tell us about your seder leading experience and please include in your cover letter the URL to a YouTube video of you reading and also singing a couple of your favorite parts of the seder.
